about

I am an art historian and visual artist.

Born in the industrial plains of north eastern Italy, I relocated to Chicago in 2017, where I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Art History at the University of Chicago.

My academic work examines the religiosity of constructed spaces in the Buddhist art and architecture of Gandhāra and Northern India. At the same time, I am also interested in Buddhist meditation at the nexus of materiality and spirituality.

As an artist, I explore gender identity, bodily discomfort and mortality. Constantly aware of my body and the work that goes into its upkeep, I am particularly interested in seeking ways in which artistic labor can replicate patterns of affection unto the body of the artworks themselves. I think a lot about endings.
